Two Little Containers

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. I spend the beautiful weekend with my in-laws. We had a BBQ on Saturday (my second one of the year) and a yummy ham dinner on Sunday. This week Courtney and I have a lot of fun projects to show you. But first some exciting news.... we were featured on twosasters.com! This blog is written by two lovely sisters. We love their Friday linky party. Please check out the project they featured here.

I've had two little projects that I've wanted to work on for a while and I had a bit of time so I thought I would tackle them.
The first was to wrap a little dish I had with jute. I love the look and it fits perfectly with my decor.
I only need a bowl and some jute to make this cute addition to my table. The bowl was $1 at the Dollar Store and the Jute was $5 at Micheal's, but I only used a bit of it.
Next I took my hand-dandy glue gun and set to work. I started in the centre of the dish because I felt that would be the easiest. I put a dab of glue and slowly started to wrap the jute around and around in a spiral adding more glue as I went.
To be honest, this took a lot longer than I was hoping. I thought this would be a quick five minute craft, but it ended up taking a long time. I wanted to make sure there were no gaps so I could only wrap the jute very slowly. Unfortunately, when I use a glue gun I always feel rushed. Is that just me, or do you feel that way too? I try to hurry and use the glue before it starts to melt and drip out of the gun and before it drys on the craft. I took a couple of breaks to clear my mind, but I am really excited with how it turned out.
At first it looked a little rough because of all the glue strings. After I took all of those off and trimmed up the jute, it looked smooth and finished. I think I might move this to my night table and use it for loose change or jewelery.

The next little container is more for storage than for decoration. I do like to make storage look nice so here it goes. I used a gravy container from take-out, some cute green and blue paper, and mod podge.

I cut up the paper to fit the container.
Then I brushed on some mod podge and put on the paper. I put a finishing coat on the top to seal it all in and to make sure the paper won't fall off.
This little container has a lid, so I thought I would put in some craft supplies that my cat finds very interesting. Here's to not finding craft supplies under the couch!
Happy Crafting,
Kristin
